The Stanley brand is headquartered in Seattle, WA, home of Mt Rainier and the birthplace of Jimi Hendrix. Surrounded by mountains, evergreens, and the Puget Sound, we live and breathe the outdoors and interlock our passion for the environment and community in everything we do. Our products are designed in Seattle, WA where research and development pioneers our innovative designs.
We carried out the test ourselves and tested all the products as they are intended to be used in reality. We first took the thermoses out into the wilderness, where they were used by two outdoor-loving families. The families were asked to open, pour, drink from, drop and handle the thermoses in all possible ways, with and without gloves and with both small and large hands. We then carried out more controlled testing both indoors and outdoors. In these tests we filled each thermos with boiling water and measured the temperature after 30 minutes and then after 1, 2 and 4 hours respectively. We also stood them upside down to see if they leaked at all.
Our test showed that smaller and modern stainless-steel thermoses are generally very good. Ultimately, all of the thermoses we tested were satisfying products, and even the ones that didn't come out on top in our test were of relatively high quality. None of the thermoses broke during our test, and even if a few of them ended up with small dents, none of them leaked.
The vast majority of Stanley products are made of 18/8 stainless steel. Even with products where stainless steel is not the primary housing material, stainless steel may be present in the hinges, handles and other locations. For this reason, it is not recommended to place Stanley products in the microwave. Doing so may result in damage to the product (and the electronic device). It is also not advisable to place any of the Stanley products in the freezer. This is because liquids expand when they freeze, and your bottle will not return to its original shape. The expansion of the liquid can cause damage to your product, affecting its functionality, thermal and sealing.
Stanley was founded in 1913 and is much more than just a thermos company. They offer full lines of drink ware, food storage, coolers/jugs and camping cookware. We received a range of products from a few of their collection including hydration, travel essentials and camping gear. We elected to focus on the hydration and travel essentials to cover the widest group of stores.
When volume is at a premium, the Stanley Titanium Travel Mug ($103) takes up scant space and even less weight. At only 8 ounces, this thermos was in the top percentile in our testing, and easily slipped into our bags no matter where we were pointed.
Maxso insulated thermoses ($40) are the perfect lunch companions for soup on and off the trail. The size and functionality of each can give you the confidence to store these anywhere in your pack or lunchbox. 041b061a72
